Becak Motor or Motorcycle Rickshaw, is a three wheel public transportation. We can find in Aceh and North Sumatera area. I've tried it when I had chance to visit Medan (capital of North Sumatera). Becak Motor can be use to carry people and also cargoes.
The difference with Becak in Java, the driver is in the right side of the carriage and using motorcycle instead of bicycle.
Several things to be notice:
- Try to bargain first because the driver will give high price for tourists.
- Prepare Rupiah in small amount to prevent their excuses they don't have any changes.
- You won't find seatbealt, because it is not available. Just hold on tight!
- The driver really love to speed up they Becak Motor and stop within few centimeters from vehicle in front of them, the thrilled experience of a life time.
- Bring handkerchief or something to cover your face, the polution is quite bad (if you stop behind old car with terrible muffler.
